“Project Title: Preparing local public authorities for the new data Protection Legislation (ProLegis)
Period: 2017 - 2019
Status: Completed

The ProLegis partnership united 6 partners from 6 different member states (Bulgaria, Austria, Latvia, Greece, Romania and Slovakia) which complemented one another with diverse expertise - legal research, data protection, privacy, public administration and studies. Under the coordination of Law and Internet Foundation, ProLegis activities were aimed at the local public authorities’ employees who would act as Data Protection Officers. The partnership brought together various types of organisations – universities, research centers, small enterprise and municipality association in a concentrated effort to provide state-of-the-art training on the novelties that the new EU personal data protection legal frameworks were bringing. The project was set to develop its own methodology and training materials in order to enhance the knowledge and competences of the Data Protection Officers, working in local public authorities. Under the framework of the project there were organized several training events, held in all partner countries, as well as an international training-of-trainers workshop. In order to reach to the Data Protection Officers, working in local public authorities who were unable to participate in the face-to-face events, an e-Learning platform was developed as well, encompassing the content of the elaborated training materials. The e-Learning platform aimed to function not only in all partner languages, but in English as well. The project was implemented with the support of the Rights, Equality, Citizenship Programme of the European Commission under Grant Agreement № 769143.
